Skin Preparation Before Makeup

Hello beautiful people,

I hope we all had a great week. My week was busy as usual with just little rest. How did your week go? Hopefully not as tiring as mine. Drop your comments below on how your week was.
Today I will be sharing with us the ideal way to prepare our skin before we put on  make up for the day. Once upon a time when I did not care about preparing my face and caring for it before I put makeup on. Yes, I am paying for it now. Settle down and keep reading. You might also want to get a pad and pen to put down some points.

The following are necessary steps to follow before applying makeup in the morning.

  • CLEANSING

I can't begin to emphasize how important this step is. It can't be avoided. There are several cleansers in beauty supply stores and choosing the right cleanser for your skin is very important. To know the right cleanser you need to know your skin type and pH level of your skin. We have three types of skin: oily, dry and combination skins. This will help you know the right pH-balanced cleanser to use. The skins natural pH stays between 4-6. For dry skin, you should check for cleansers ranging from pH of 4-4.5 or 5. For oily skin, you should check for cleansers ranging from pH of 5-6. I use Neutrogena Oil-Free(Acne Wash pink grapefruit) facial cleanser or DSM(Dead Sea Minerals) facial cleansing gel. Thoroughly rinse your face so that no residue is left. This is to ensure smooth application of makeup.

  • EXFOLIATION
Exfoliation gets rid of  dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. Look  for a gentle and soft daily exfoliating scrub and make sure it has small granules which are circular in shape. It is important to make sure your exfoliating scrub is as close to natural as possible. I have 3 different scrubs I use: Beauty Formulas Facial Scrub, Garnier Skin Naturals 3 in 1 Facial scrub, and Neutrogena Oil-Free(pink grapefruit foaming scrub)
Now we have exfoliating brushes which are used in place of an exfoliating scrub. Exfoliating the neck alongside the face is very important.

  • MOISTURIZE

Hydrating your skin is very important for a smooth and flawless makeup. Use a moisturizing cream that suits your skin and lasts long so it takes you through the day. This makes your face plump, smooth and nice to work on. It is important to get a moisturizing cream with SPF if you are in a country with harsh sunlight. This will protect your skin from the harsh effects of the sun. Knowing your skin type is also important in purchasing a moisturizing cream. Avoid rubbing the moisturizing cream, press it on your skin instead. This will stimulate your skin cells to allow the ingredients penetrate into your skin. I use DSM (Dead Sea Minerals)Moisturizing Cream.

  • PRIME
This is the final pre-makeup skin preparation. Priming before makeup application makes your skin smooth by filling up your face.
I am a lover of Inglot products so my primer is an Inglot  under Makeup Base

If you read this to the end thank yo very much. If you have questions or anything you would love for me to share next, drop your comments below

Starting Makeup As A Medical Student

  • My starting point

My starting point was somewhat frustrating and fun at the same time. I spent 50% of my time watching YouTube videos and practicing at the same time. If I was not reading my books and i was practicing on my face. I had like only 5 pieces of brush, an eye shadow palette, 2 lipsticks, and of course foundation and powder. I was very keen on getting perfect eyebrows so i spent my whole time learning how to draw perfect eyebrow. Medical school made my learning process slower than usual but I was able to keep up. After perfecting my eyebrow technique to a level I went in on other aspects of makeup like foundation routine, highlighting and contouring.

  • Makeup products

I started buying makeup brushes, sponges, eyelashes, foundations, powders and other products about a year after i was serious with my learning. Im sure you must be wondering what i used to learn not having most products. Well i did learn and I learnt quick to. I started with buying foundations and powders which are quite essential for basic makeup, then i went on to buying 20 pieces brush set, contour, brush set, foundation brush set, 32 pieces brush set, foundation sponge. Many other products I kept buying as I kept building myself

  • Essential products to have while building

I believe the products I'm about will to mention are affordable and easy to get for a starter kit. due to the country I reside I cant mention shops to get them and prices that the will be but I believe you can get them at any beauty supply store

  1. Foundation of your skin type and color
  2. Concealer; your shade, a shade lighter  than you and also darker
  3. Brush set
  4. Powder of your skin type and shade
  5. Eye shadow palette
  6. Eye liner and mascara
  7. Lip liner and lipsticks

  • Makeup school someday

Yes I surely plan on going to make up school someday and become a certified makeup artist but medical life will not allow me for the mean time so I will continue to learn online and keep practicing.
